COST TO PLAY


Cost to play for the Ohio Fury vary per team based upon indoor practice facility and rental costs, uniform cost, number of tournaments in the summer, fall, and winter.  The fees are typically between $475.00 and $600.00 depending on the team.  These fees also include USA/USA, USSSA, and NSA sanctioning fees (needed to participate in tournaments), mandatory liability and accident insurance, mandatory background checks on coaches as well as incidentals including age disputes, umpiring fees for scrimmages, and equipment needs.  Optional items teams have indulged in previously include extra sets of uniforms, matching bat bags, team banners, helmets, etc… – these items may be paid for through any fundraising.  These optional items will be discussed and voted on by parents on the team.   Coaches in the Ohio Fury program are NOT paid.   If you should accept the offer to play for the 2025 season, fees will need to be fulfilled at the initial parent meeting either by check, cash, or Venmo (@Ohio-Fury).  All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE unless in the event of a season-ending injury or unique family situation.  



PRACTICES


The practice schedule, frequency, and location will be determined by the head coach once final rosters are established.  Factors in this include the coach’s access to facilities at their home school as well as access to any facilities from members of the team.  Practices may begin indoors in the winter and run through the summer season.  Any high school players are subject to the OHSAA-mandated break from travel instruction from the official start date through the conclusion of their high school season.  If you accept a position with the Ohio Fury organization it is best to contact the head coach in order to ascertain their plan concerning off-season instruction or wait for those details to be provided at the initial player/parent meeting.  


TOURNAMENT SELECTION


The number and competitiveness of tournaments at each age level will be determined by the head coach once his/her rosters are established.  Aspects which will be taken into consideration include the experience-level of the team as a whole, and for the 16U and 18U levels, the number of families interested in college-exposure tournaments.  Typically, Ohio Fury teams participate in 4-6 tournaments in the summer.  We fully understand that in our area there are high demands, and rightfully so, for girls to participate in more than one sport.  It is the goal of our organization to allow enough opportunity for girls to also participate in other sports throughout the summer as well as enjoy family vacations and down time, so we encourage coaches to not exceed six tournaments.  Compared to other local and regional spring/summer travel programs in softball as well as other sports, who play as many as 7-10 tournaments and can cost between $600-$1,000, the Ohio Fury organization does its best to keep everything cost-effective while also allowing time for girls to participate in other summer activities.  Please refer to the Master List on the home page to see which tournaments the Ohio Fury participated in along with the dates they occurred in 2024; they are typically held around the same weekend each year.  Teams may or may not participate in these next year and will also look into options NOT on this list - options which will be discussed at each level’s player/parent meetings in a few weeks.  Each level will finalize tournaments later this winter when registrations open and the dates will be provided at that time in order to help plan your 2025 summer schedule accordingly.
